Clare is a small country town in Queensland, Australia. It's located in an area called the Shire of Burdekin. In 2021, about 201 people lived in Clare.

Exploring Clare's Landscape

Clare is a flat area, sitting about 20 metres above sea level. The Burdekin River runs along its eastern side. This land is perfect for growing sugarcane. Farmers use special small railways called cane tramways to move the harvested sugarcane to nearby sugar mills. The main part of the town is in the east, close to the river.

The town of Clare was first called Mulgrave. But on July 20, 1882, its name was officially changed to Clare.

A small office for mail opened in the area around 1879. It changed names a few times, becoming Clare Post Office in 1882. It closed for a while but is now open again. Today, the Clare post office also works as a small general store.
