Clare is a small rural town and area in Queensland, Australia. It is located in the Shire of Burdekin. In 2021, about 201 people lived in Clare.

Where is Clare Located?
Clare is a very flat area, sitting about 20 meters (65 feet) above sea level. The Burdekin River forms the eastern edge of the area.
Farming and Transport
The land in Clare is mostly used for growing sugarcane. There is a special network of small railways called cane tramways. These tramways help transport the harvested sugarcane to the local sugar mills for processing. The main town area is in the east of Clare, close to the river but not directly next to it.
Clare Solar Farm
A large solar power plant, called the Clare Solar Farm, was built in Clare in 2018. It uses sunlight to create electricity.

The town of Clare was not always called by its current name.
Changing Names
It was first named Mulgrave. However, the Surveyor-General changed its name to Clare on July 20, 1882.
Post Office History
A small post office, called a receiving office, opened in the Burdekin area by 1879. It was renamed Culburra in 1880. Later that same year, it became Mulgrave Post Office, and then Clare Post Office in 1882. This original post office closed by 1916. Today, there is a Clare post office that also works as a small general store.
Clare State School
Clare State School first opened its doors on February 8, 1950. At the front gates of the school, there is a time capsule. This time capsule is planned to be opened in 2025.
Education in Clare
Clare State School is a government primary school for students from Prep (the first year of school) to Year 6. It is located on Larkin Street.
In 2016, the school had 23 students. In 2018, the number of students was 19.
There is no high school in Clare. Students who want to attend secondary school usually go to Home Hill State High School. This school is located in Home Hill, which is to the north-east of Clare.
