Clarence is found in the northern part of Centre County. It's close to the middle of Snow Shoe Township. The community of Snow Shoe borders Clarence to the south.

Clarence covers an area of about 2.66 square miles (6.88 square kilometers). All of this area is land. The town is located in a valley. This valley is formed by the North Fork of Beech Creek. This creek flows east into Bald Eagle Creek. Bald Eagle Creek then joins the West Branch Susquehanna River.
