Clarence Page, born on June 2, 1947, is an American journalist and writer. He is known for his columns that appear in many newspapers across the country. He is also a senior member of the Chicago Tribune editorial board, which means he helps decide the newspaper's main opinions.

Early Life and Education
Clarence Page was born in Dayton, Ohio. He went to Middletown High School in Middletown, Ohio. While in high school, he worked on the school's newspaper, which came out every two weeks.
After finishing high school in 1965, he started working as a freelance writer and photographer. He wrote for The Middletown Journal and The Cincinnati Enquirer. At the same time, he studied journalism at Ohio University and earned his Bachelor of Science degree.
His Career as a Journalist
After graduating from university in 1969, Clarence Page started working for The Chicago Tribune. Just six months later, he was drafted into the military. He served as an Army journalist at Fort Lewis in Washington state. When his military service ended, he returned to the Tribune in 1971.
Clarence Page has appeared on many TV and radio shows. He was often a guest on The McLaughlin Group, a show where people discuss politics. He also contributed essays to The PBS NewsHour and hosted several documentaries for the Public Broadcasting Service. You might have heard him as a commentator on National Public Radio's Weekend Edition Sunday. He also frequently appeared as a political expert on Hardball with Chris Matthews on MSNBC. In 1993, he even appeared in the movie Rising Sun, playing himself as a talk show panel member.
Clarence Page has written many important articles. For example, he wrote an editorial piece about "Richie" Daley and his achievements as the mayor of Chicago.
Personal Life
Clarence Page was married to Leanita McClain, who was also a columnist for the Tribune and wrote about race. They later divorced. In 1987, Page married Lisa Johnson. They have one son named Grady Jonathan.
Awards and Recognition
Clarence Page has received special honorary degrees from several colleges. These include Columbia College Chicago, Lake Forest College, and Nazareth College in Rochester, New York. He has also won many important awards for his journalism:
- 1972 Pulitzer Prize for a series of articles by the Chicago Tribune about voter fraud.
- 1976 Edward Scott Beck Award for his reporting from overseas about political changes in Southern Africa.
- 1980 Illinois UPI Award for community service for his work called The Black Tax.
- 1987 American Civil Liberties Union James P. McGuire Award for his columns about constitutional rights.
- 1989 Pulitzer Prize for Commentary, which is a very high honor for newspaper writing.
