Flaveria chlorifolia, also known as the clasping yellowtops, is a plant found in North America. It belongs to the yellowtops group within the sunflower family. You can find this plant growing naturally in the southwestern United States, specifically in New Mexico and western Texas. It also grows in northern Mexico, in areas like Chihuahua, Coahuila, and Nuevo León.
This plant is a type of herb that grows back every year. It can get quite tall, sometimes reaching up to 200 centimeters (about 6 and a half feet!). Each Flaveria chlorifolia plant can produce many yellow flowers. Sometimes, one plant can have 150 or more flower heads! These small yellow flowers grow in clusters and do not have the larger "petals" (called ray flowers) that you might see on a typical sunflower.
