Claudia Fragapane (born 24 October 1997) is a British artistic gymnast who has now retired. She became famous at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. There, she was the first English woman since 1930 to win four gold medals in one Games.
In 2015, Claudia was part of the gymnastics team that won Great Britain's first-ever team medal at the World Championships. This was a bronze medal. Two years later, she won another bronze medal on the floor at the World Championships.
She represented Great Britain at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. The team finished 5th, but Claudia did not make any individual finals. After some injuries, she returned for the England team at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. She won her fifth Commonwealth Games gold medal in the women's team event.
Claudia has also won many titles in England. She is an eight-time English champion and a two-time British champion.

Early Life and Start in Gymnastics
Claudia Fragapane grew up in Bristol, England. She went to St Bernadette Catholic Secondary School. Claudia started learning gymnastics when she was six years old.
Claudia's Senior Gymnastics Career
2014: A Golden Year
In 2014, Claudia competed at the British national championships. She placed well in several events. She then went to the European Women's Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria.
At the European Championships, her team won a silver medal. Claudia also reached the finals for vault and floor exercise.
Later that year, Claudia shone at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Her English team won a gold medal. She also won the individual all-around competition. Claudia then won gold medals in both the vault and floor finals. Winning four gold medals made her England's most successful female athlete at the Commonwealth Games in over 80 years!
In October, Claudia competed at the 2014 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. The British team finished 6th. Claudia also competed in the individual all-around, vault, and floor finals.
After her amazing success in 2014, Claudia was named BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year. This is a big award for young athletes.
2015: World Medal Success
Claudia competed in the American Cup and the English Championships. At the 2015 European Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Montpellier, France, she placed 6th in the all-around. She also won a silver medal in the floor final.
In October, Claudia was part of the team that made history. They won Great Britain's first-ever team bronze medal at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.
2016: Olympic Dreams
In 2016, Claudia won the all-around title at both the English and British Championships. Her score at the British Championships was her personal best.
In July, she was chosen for Great Britain's women's gymnastics team for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. At the Olympics, the team finished fifth. Claudia did not make any individual finals.
2017: Another World Medal
At the 2017 European Championships, Claudia reached the balance beam and floor finals.
She then competed at the 2017 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships. She won a bronze medal in the floor final. This was her first individual medal at the World Championships. She became Great Britain's second female world championship medalist in gymnastics.
2018-2022: Injuries and Comebacks
In March 2018, Claudia had an Achilles injury, which stopped her from competing for a while.
She made a comeback at the British Championships in 2019. She also competed at the 2019 European Championships, where she placed fifth in the floor final.
In 2021, Claudia faced more challenges. She had a head injury and then a foot injury. Despite this, she won a gold medal on floor at the Koper World Challenge Cup.
In June 2022, Claudia was chosen to represent England at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Her team won a gold medal in the women's team event. This was Claudia's fifth Commonwealth gold medal!
Strictly Come Dancing
In 2016, Claudia took part in Strictly Come Dancing. This is a popular TV show where celebrities learn to dance with professional partners. She danced with AJ Pritchard.
They reached the semi-finals of the competition. They finished in 4th place overall. Claudia was 18 years old at the time. She was one of the youngest celebrities to ever compete on the show. She was also the first female Olympic gymnast to be on Strictly.
Claudia also appeared on the TV show Take Me Out.
