Clearwater Lake is a large, man-made lake in the state of Missouri, United States. It is found in both Reynolds and Wayne counties. This beautiful lake was created on the Black River, about six miles from the town of Piedmont, Missouri. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers manages Clearwater Lake. They use it to help control floods in the White and lower Mississippi River Basins.

How Clearwater Lake Was Built
Building Clearwater Lake began in 1940. However, work had to stop for a while because of World War II. After the war ended, construction started again. The Clearwater Lake Dam was finally opened in 1948. This dam is made of both earth and concrete. It stands about 114 feet tall. The lake itself covers an area of about 2.5 square miles.
