Piedmont is a city located in the northwestern part of Wayne County in Southeast Missouri, United States. In 2020, about 1,897 people lived there.

Piedmont is part of the Ozark Foothills Region. It sits where two main roads, State Highways 34 and 49, meet. The name "Piedmont" comes from French words meaning "foot of the mountain." This is because the city is located at the base of Clark Mountain, which is about two miles north of town.

History of Piedmont

Piedmont was officially planned and laid out in 1871. This happened when the Iron Mountain Railroad built its tracks further south to this spot. The name "Piedmont" comes from the French words pied (meaning "foot") and mont (meaning "mountain"). A post office opened in Piedmont in 1872.

Geography of Piedmont
