History of Climax Springs
The story of Climax Springs began in 1883 when a post office called Climax was opened. A few years later, in 1886, its name was changed to Climax Springs. This new name came from a special mineral spring found nearby.
How Climax Springs Got Its Name
Legend says that when a settler found the spring, they were so excited they shouted, "that caps the climax!" This phrase means something is the very best or the highest point. The spring was thought to have healing powers, making it a perfect spot for a mineral spa.
Becoming an Unincorporated Community
In 2015, Climax Springs stopped being an official village. It is now an unincorporated community. This means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town.

Climax Springs is found in the northern part of the Ozarks, which is a beautiful highland area. It's located just north of Missouri Route 7. The community is also about six miles northeast of the famous Lake of the Ozarks.
