Clinch Peak is a very tall mountain in Antarctica. It stands about 4,841 meters (15,883 feet) high. This peak is part of the Vinson Plateau, which is a large, ice-covered area. It is located in the central part of the Sentinel Range, within the Ellsworth Mountains. To its west, you can see the Roché Glacier.

This mountain was named in 2006 by a group called the US-ACAN. They named it after Nicholas Clinch, who was a famous explorer. Nicholas Clinch led an American expedition in 1966-67. His team was the first to climb Mount Vinson, which is the highest mountain in all of Antarctica. They also climbed other high mountains in the Sentinel Range.

His team achieved a major goal: they were the first people to successfully climb Mount Vinson. Mount Vinson is the tallest mountain on the entire continent of Antarctica. They also explored and climbed other tall mountains in the Sentinel Range.

Where is Clinch Peak Located?

Clinch Peak is found in a specific spot in Antarctica. Its exact location is 78°32′08″ South and 85°30′45″ West. It is about 1.6 miles (2.6 kilometers) southeast of Mount Vinson. You can also find it about 0.88 miles (1.4 kilometers) southwest of Schoening Peak. It is 1.54 miles (2.5 kilometers) west of Marts Peak. And it is about 2.4 miles (3.9 kilometers) north-northeast of Opalchenie Peak. Maps of this area were first made in 1961 and then updated in 1988.
