History of Cloverton

Cloverton got its name for one of two reasons. It might have been named after the wild clover flowers that grew in the area. Another idea is that it was named after the Red Clover Land Company. This company owned a lot of land in the township around 1916.

A railroad line, the Soo Line Railroad, started operating in Cloverton in 1911. This helped connect the community to other places. A post office also served the community for many years, from 1912 until 1972.
