Cody Walker (born 10 January 1990) is an Australian professional rugby league player. He plays as a five-eighth or halfback for the South Sydney Rabbitohs in the NRL.
Cody has also represented his state, New South Wales, in the famous State of Origin series. He has played for other important teams like the Prime Minister's XIII and Country NSW.

About Cody Walker
Cody Walker was born in Nowra, New South Wales, Australia. When he was young, his family moved to Casino, New South Wales. Cody is from an Indigenous Australian background, with family ties to the Yuin and Bundjalung people.
He went to Palm Beach Currumbin High School. Cody's younger brother, Ryan Walker, also played rugby league. His cousin, Shannon Walker, is also a rugby player. Cody started his junior rugby league career playing for the Casino Cougars. Later, he signed his first big contract with the Gold Coast Titans.
Cody's Rugby League Journey
Starting Out in Rugby League
From 2009 to 2010, Cody played for the Gold Coast Titans' junior team, the NYC team. He played 36 games and scored 25 tries.
In 2011, he moved to the Penrith Panthers club. He played for their reserve grade team, the Windsor Wolves, in the New South Wales Cup. The next year, in 2012, he joined the Eastern Suburbs Tigers in the Queensland Cup.
Cody played so well in 2012 that he was invited to train with the Melbourne Storm NRL team. He then returned to the Tigers for the 2013 season. On 17 July 2013, he played for the Queensland Residents team.
At the end of the 2013 season, Cody won the Queensland Cup's Best and Fairest award. This award is given to the best player in the competition. He also scored the most points in the league that year. In September 2013, he signed a contract with the Melbourne Storm for 2014.
On 17 June 2014, Cody signed a two-year contract with the South Sydney Rabbitohs. He joined them in 2015. In 2015, he played for the North Sydney Bears in the NSW Cup. The Bears made it to the finals that year. Cody won two awards for his great play: Best & Fairest and Players' Player.
NRL Debut and Rise (2016-2018)
In 2016, Cody made his NRL debut for the South Sydney Rabbitohs. He played against the Sydney Roosters in Round 1. He was a key player in his team's big win.
Cody scored his first NRL try in Round 5 against the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles. Later that year, he signed a new contract with the Rabbitohs until the end of 2019. He played 20 games in 2016, scoring eight tries.
In 2017, Cody played for South Sydney in the 2017 NRL Auckland Nines tournament. He also played for the NSW Country team. He played every single game for South Sydney that year. He scored six tries and was a top player for try assists and line breaks.
In 2018, Cody played every game for Souths again. He scored 12 tries. His team finished third in the league and made it to the finals. Souths reached the preliminary final but lost to the Sydney Roosters.
State of Origin and Big Moments (2019-2021)
In 2019, Cody scored four tries in one game against the New Zealand Warriors. This was a huge effort! His excellent form led to him being picked for the New South Wales team in the 2019 State of Origin series.
Cody played 25 games for Souths in 2019. He scored a try in their finals win against Manly-Warringah. He also played in the preliminary final against the Canberra Raiders. Later that year, he was chosen for the Australia PM XIII team. He also played in the 2019 Rugby League World Cup 9s. He signed a contract to stay with South Sydney until 2022.
In 2020, Cody scored two tries in a big win against St. George. He also scored two tries and was named man-of-the-match in a huge 60-8 victory over the Sydney Roosters. Many people called it one of the best individual performances of the year.
Cody played 21 games in 2020 and scored ten tries. He played in the preliminary final again, but Souths lost to Penrith. He was also selected for New South Wales in the 2020 State of Origin series and played in all three games.
In 2021, Cody continued his strong form. He scored two tries in a win over the Sydney Roosters in Round 3. The next week, he scored two more tries against Canterbury-Bankstown. He also scored two tries in a finals win against Manly.
On 27 September, Cody was named the Dally M Five-Eighth of the Year. This is a big award for the best player in his position. He played 25 games in 2021 and scored 16 tries. He scored a try in the 2021 NRL Grand Final against Penrith, but South Sydney lost a very close game 14-12. After the season, he signed a new contract to stay with South Sydney until 2023.
Recent Seasons (2022-2024)
In 2022, Cody scored two tries in a big win against the Wests Tigers. He played 27 games for South Sydney that year. His team reached the preliminary final for the fifth year in a row but lost to Penrith. In December, Cody signed another contract, keeping him at South Sydney until the end of 2025.
In 2023, Cody scored two tries in a golden point extra-time win over Manly. On 3 July, he was picked for New South Wales for Game 3 of the 2023 State of Origin series. Cody was named man of the match in New South Wales' 24-10 win. He played 22 games for Souths in 2023.
In 2024, Cody played his 200th first-grade game for South Sydney. He became only the ninth player in the club's history to reach this milestone. In Round 14, he scored two tries in a big win against the Gold Coast. He played 21 games in 2024.
