Colin Trevorrow (born September 13, 1976) is an American film director, producer, and screenwriter. He is known for his work on the Jurassic Park movie series. He directed and co-wrote the first Jurassic World film in 2015. He also co-wrote Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) and co-wrote and directed Jurassic World Dominion (2022).
Trevorrow also worked on the Star Wars movies. He was set to direct Star Wars: Episode IX but later left the project. He still received story credit for the film, which became Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019). Colin often works with his friend and fellow writer, Derek Connolly.

Early Life and Interests
Colin Trevorrow was born in San Francisco, California. He grew up in Oakland, California. His father was a musician, and his mother was a photographer who also ran a day-care center.
When he was a boy, Colin sang in the chorus of the San Francisco Opera. As a teenager, he won awards at film festivals. He went to Piedmont High School and later studied at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. He graduated from college in 1999.
Colin Trevorrow's Film Career
Colin Trevorrow started his film career in 2002. He wrote and directed his first short film, Home Base. This film became very popular online. His first movie released in theaters was Reality Show in 2004. This was a documentary about a TV show that didn't work out.
In 2008, he started working with Derek Connolly. They had met years before at NYU. They wrote a movie script together and enjoyed it so much that Colin decided to always work with Derek on scripts.
Directing Safety Not Guaranteed

In 2012, Trevorrow directed Safety Not Guaranteed. This film was inspired by a strange advertisement from a magazine. The ad said: "Somebody to go back in time with me. This is not a joke. You'll get paid after we get back. Must bring your own weapons. Safety not guaranteed."
Derek Connolly wrote the script for this movie, and he wanted Colin to direct it. The film was a big success. It won awards and was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival.
Working on Jurassic World Films
After Safety Not Guaranteed, Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly were hired by Disney. They were asked to write a new version of the film Flight of the Navigator.
Then, Colin Trevorrow co-wrote and directed Jurassic World (2015). This movie was a huge hit! In the film, he even provided the voice for the cartoon character, Mr. DNA. Colin and Derek also co-wrote the next movie, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which came out in 2018. Colin was also an executive producer for that film.
Colin returned to the Jurassic Park world to direct Jurassic World Dominion (2022). He also co-wrote the script for this movie.
Other Film Projects
After Jurassic World, Colin directed a film called The Book of Henry (2017).

In 2015, it was announced that Colin Trevorrow would direct Star Wars: Episode IX. He and Derek Connolly started writing the script for the movie, which was called Star Wars: Duel of the Fates. However, in 2017, Colin left the project because of creative differences. Another director, J. J. Abrams, took over. Even so, Colin and Derek still received story credit for the final film, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Colin gave the money he earned from the film to charity.
Colin Trevorrow has several new projects planned. In 2021, it was announced he would direct War Magician. This is a historical war film about a British magician who used magic to trick Nazis in World War II. Benedict Cumberbatch is set to star in it. In 2023, he was announced as the director and producer for a film called Atlantis. He is also producing a film called Trash Mountain.
