History of Collegeville
The community of Collegeville got its name from Saint John's University. This university is a big part of the area's history.
From 1885 to 1896, a school called St. John's Indian Industrial School operated here. It was a residential school for Native American students. Saint John's University ran this school. In 1888, nearly half of all students at Saint John's were Native American students from this school.
