The Collegiate Peaks is a special group of mountains in central Colorado. They are part of the larger Sawatch Range in the Rocky Mountains. These peaks are famous for being some of the highest mountains in the Rockies.

The name "Collegiate Peaks" comes from the fact that many of these tall mountains are named after well-known universities. For example, you'll find peaks named after Harvard, Yale, and Princeton! The rivers on the east side of these mountains flow into the Arkansas River.

La Plata Peak

La Plata Peak is another giant in the Collegiate Peaks. It reaches a height of 14,371 feet (4,380 meters). Its name means "the silver" in Spanish, which might remind you of Colorado's mining history.

Mount Princeton

Mount Yale
