Collores is a special area, known as a barrio, located in the municipality of Humacao, Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 2,770 people called Collores home. It is a part of the beautiful island of Puerto Rico.

History of Collores
Becoming Part of the United States
After the Spanish–American War in 1898, Puerto Rico became a territory of the United States. This happened because of an agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898. This treaty meant that Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States.
Early Population Count
Soon after, in 1899, the United States government took a count of all the people in Puerto Rico. This count is called a census. The census found that 1,016 people lived in the Collores barrio at that time.
