The Conus circumcisus, also known as the circumcision cone or the auger cone, is a type of sea snail. It is a marine gastropod mollusk that belongs to the family Conidae. This family includes all the different cone snails.

Just like other cone snails, Conus circumcisus is a predatory animal. This means it hunts and eats other creatures. These snails are also venomous, which means they can sting. Because of their venom, it's very important to be careful around them. You should never touch a live cone snail.

About the Conus circumcisus Shell

The shell of the Conus circumcisus is quite thin. It has many small lines, called striations, all over its surface. The shell's color is usually yellowish or a light purple-white.

It often has cloudy patterns of chestnut brown. You can also see rows of chestnut spots and short lines. These marks are clearest on two lighter bands around the shell.

Looking at Conus brazieri Shells

The shell of a related snail, Conus brazieri, is a bit stronger. It also has lines all over it. Its color is whitish, sometimes with a light pink tint.

It has two wide, light yellowish-brown bands. These bands are sprinkled with tiny brown spots. The top part of the shell, called the spire, has clear dark brown blotches.

Where These Cone Snails Live

This type of marine snail lives in the Pacific Ocean. You can find them near the Moluccas and the Philippines. They also live around the Marshall Islands, Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu.

In Australia, they are found off the coast of the Northern Territory and Western Australia.
