History of Coolidge
Coolidge began its story in the year 1900. This was when a railway line, called the Tifton, Thomasville and Gulf Railway, was built through the area. The community was named after an important person who worked for the railroad.
Just one year later, in 1901, the Georgia General Assembly officially recognized Coolidge as a town. This meant it could have its own local government.
