CTMA, which stands for Coopérative de Transport Maritime et Aérien, is a Canadian company that helps people and goods travel by sea and air. It started way back in 1944 to connect the beautiful Magdalen Islands in Quebec with the rest of Canada.

Known as Groupe CTMA, the company runs a ferry service all year long. This ferry travels between Cap-aux-Meules in the Magdalen Islands and Souris, Prince Edward Island. The ship used for this trip is called the MV Madeleine II. CTMA also moves cargo (goods) all year from Montreal and Matane, Quebec, to Cap-aux-Meules using a ship named C.T.M.A. Voyageur 2. They also have a trucking company to move cargo on land and even offer air services.

In the past, CTMA used to offer a special passenger service during certain seasons. This service went from Montreal to Cap-aux-Meules using a ship called MS C.T.M.A. Vacancier.

CTMA Ferry Routes

CTMA operates two main routes to connect with the Magdalen Islands. These routes help people and goods get to and from the islands.

Main Ferry Connections

  • The first route connects Montreal to Cap-aux-Meules. Along the way, it makes stops in Quebec City and Chandler. This route is mainly for cargo.
  • The second route is a direct link between Souris and Cap-aux-Meules. This is the main ferry service for passengers and vehicles.

CTMA's Current Ships

CTMA uses a special type of ship called a Roll-on/roll-off passenger vessel, or RoPax. These ships are designed so that vehicles can drive directly onto and off the ship.
