Copper Creek is a ghost town in Pinal County, Arizona, United States. A ghost town is a place that used to be a busy community but is now mostly empty. Copper Creek is located in a canyon within the Galiuro Mountains.

A Look Back at Copper Creek
Copper Creek was once a lively place. It had about 50 buildings and was home to around 500 people at its busiest time.
The Post Office and Railway
The town's post office opened on March 6, 1906. It served the community for many years before closing on August 31, 1942.
In 1913, a special narrow-gauge railway line was built. A narrow-gauge railway uses tracks that are closer together than regular train tracks. The train engine and cars for this railway were brought overland from Winkelman, which was the closest main railway stop.
What's Left Today?
Today, you can still see some parts of the old town. Notable remains include the foundations of the old post office. You can also see the shell of the Sibley Mansion, which was once a grand house.
Copper in the Ground
Copper Creek is known for its large amount of copper in the ground. This area is called a mining district. In recent years, several companies have shown interest in opening a mine here.
Unique Rock Formations
The area has more than 500 special rock formations called "mineralized breccia pipes." These are tube-shaped rocks that contain valuable minerals. There is also a type of copper deposit called "porphyry-style" copper buried deep underground. This has made the area interesting for companies looking for new copper sources.
Where is Copper Creek?
Copper Creek is located about ten miles east of the community of Mammoth. To get there, you would travel on a rough dirt road.
