Corey Jermaine Chamblin (born May 29, 1977) is an American football coach. He is currently the defensive coordinator and safeties coach for the Birmingham Stallions in the United Football League (UFL).

Before becoming a coach, Chamblin was a professional gridiron football player. He played as a defensive back for several teams, including the Baltimore Ravens and Jacksonville Jaguars. He also played college football at Tennessee Tech.

Chamblin is well-known for being the head coach of the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the Canadian Football League (CFL). In 2013, he led them to win the 101st Grey Cup, which is a major championship in Canadian football. That same year, he was named the CFL's Coach of the Year, receiving the Annis Stukus Trophy.

Corey Chamblin's College Football Journey

Corey Chamblin played college football at Tennessee Tech. During his senior year, he was recognized as a top player in the Ohio Valley Conference before the season even began.

He played in 43 games during his college career, starting 35 of them. He made 161 tackles, caught three interceptions, and helped break up eight passes. He also blocked two punts, showing his skills in different parts of the game.

Corey Chamblin's Pro Playing Career

After college, Corey Chamblin joined the professional football world. He played for several teams in the National Football League (NFL) and NFL Europe.

Playing for NFL Teams

Chamblin first signed with the Baltimore Ravens in 1999. Later that year, he joined the Jacksonville Jaguars. With the Jaguars, he played in 11 games, mostly on special teams. He even blocked a punt in a playoff game against the Miami Dolphins.

He also spent time with the Green Bay Packers in 2001, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2002, and the Denver Broncos in 2003. In 2004, he played for the Rhein Fire in NFL Europe before signing with the Indianapolis Colts later that year.

Corey Chamblin's Coaching Career

Corey Chamblin began his coaching journey in 2006 and has since held many important roles. He has coached in both the CFL and UFL, winning multiple championships.

Early Coaching Roles

Chamblin started coaching with the Frankfurt Galaxy in NFL Europe in 2006. The next year, he moved to the Canadian Football League (CFL) to coach the Winnipeg Blue Bombers as their defensive backs coach.

He then spent three seasons with the Calgary Stampeders in the same role. During this time, he won his first Grey Cup championship as a coach in 2008. In 2011, he became the defensive coordinator for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Leading the Saskatchewan Roughriders

On December 15, 2011, Corey Chamblin became the head coach of the Saskatchewan Roughriders. This was a big step in his coaching career.

In 2013, he led the Roughriders to a fantastic season. They won their playoff game against the BC Lions and then defeated the Calgary Stampeders in the West Final. This victory sent them to the 101st Grey Cup championship game.

The Roughriders won the Grey Cup on November 25, 2013, marking Chamblin's first championship as a head coach. For his excellent work, he was named the CFL's Coach of the Year in February 2014. His time with the Roughriders ended in August 2015.

Coaching with the Toronto Argonauts

Chamblin returned to the CFL in 2017, joining the Toronto Argonauts as defensive coordinator, defensive backs coach, and assistant head coach. The Argonauts had a successful season, winning the Grey Cup in 2017. This was Chamblin's third Grey Cup win as a coach.

In 2018, he briefly coached at the University of Arkansas as a defensive backs quality control coach. He then returned to the Toronto Argonauts as their head coach on December 10, 2018. His second time as head coach for the Argonauts ended after the 2019 season.

Recent Coaching Positions

In September 2022, Chamblin was hired by the San Antonio Brahmas. He then joined the Birmingham Stallions in January 2024. On May 28, 2024, he was promoted to Defensive Coordinator for the Stallions, where he also coaches safeties.
