Corey Jermaine Chamblin (born May 29, 1977) is an American football coach. He is currently the defensive coordinator and safeties coach for the Birmingham Stallions in the United Football League (UFL). Before becoming a coach, he was a professional gridiron football player, playing as a defensive back.

Chamblin played college football at Tennessee Tech. He later played for several teams in the National Football League (NFL), including the Baltimore Ravens and Jacksonville Jaguars. He also played in NFL Europe. As a coach, he led the Saskatchewan Roughriders to a Grey Cup championship in 2013 and was named the CFL's Coach of the Year. He has won multiple championships as a coach.

College Football Career

Corey Chamblin played college football at Tennessee Tech. During his senior year, he was chosen as a top player in the Ohio Valley Conference before the season even started. He played in 43 games, starting 35 of them. He made 161 tackles, caught three interceptions, and blocked two punts.

Playing Career in Professional Football

Corey Chamblin began his professional football career in 1999. He played for several teams as a defensive back.

Early NFL Teams

Chamblin first signed with the Baltimore Ravens in 1999 but was later released. He then joined the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he played in eleven games. He was mainly on special teams, helping with plays like kickoffs and punts. He made three special teams tackles and even blocked a punt in a playoff game.

After his time with the Jaguars, Chamblin also played for the Green Bay Packers in 2001, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2002, and the Denver Broncos in 2003.

NFL Europe and Final Team

In 2004, Chamblin played for the Rhein Fire in NFL Europe, a league that helped players develop their skills. Later that year, he signed with the Indianapolis Colts but was released before the regular season began.

Starting as a Coach

Chamblin's first coaching job was with the Frankfurt Galaxy in NFL Europe in 2006. The next year, he moved to the Canadian Football League (CFL) to coach the defensive backs for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He then spent three seasons with the Calgary Stampeders, also coaching defensive backs. While with the Stampeders, he won his first Grey Cup championship in 2008. In 2011, he became the defensive coordinator for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Leading the Saskatchewan Roughriders

On December 15, 2011, Chamblin became the head coach of the Saskatchewan Roughriders. This was a big step in his career. In 2013, he led the Roughriders to a fantastic season. They won their playoff games, including the West Final, to reach the 101st Grey Cup. On November 25, 2013, his team won the Grey Cup, which was his first championship as a head coach.

Because of his success, Chamblin was nominated for the 2013 CFL Coach of the Year award. On February 5, 2014, it was announced that he had won the award, recognizing him as the best coach in the league that year. In 2015, after a tough start to the season, Chamblin was no longer the head coach of the Roughriders.

Return to the Toronto Argonauts

In 2017, Chamblin joined the Toronto Argonauts as the defensive coordinator, defensive backs coach, and assistant head coach. That year, the Argonauts won the Grey Cup, giving Chamblin his third Grey Cup win as a coach.

He briefly coached at the University of Arkansas in 2018. Then, in December 2018, Chamblin returned to the Toronto Argonauts as their head coach. He coached the team for the 2019 season.

Recent Coaching Roles

In 2022, Chamblin was hired by the San Antonio Brahmas. He then joined the Birmingham Stallions in 2024. He was promoted to defensive coordinator for the Stallions in May 2024. He also won the UFL Championship with the Stallions in 2024.
