Before joining the Seahawks, he played for the Kansas City Chiefs. He also played college football at Clemson University.

Early Life and High School
Cornell Powell grew up in Greenville, North Carolina. He went to JH Rose High School there. In his final year of high school, he was an amazing player. He caught the ball 65 times for 1,557 yards. He also scored 38 touchdowns. After high school, he decided to play college football at Clemson University.
College Football Career
Powell played for Clemson from 2016 to 2020. For his first few years, he was a backup receiver. This means he didn't start every game. In 2018, he took a redshirt year. This allowed him to practice with the team but not play in many games. It helped him get stronger and better.
During his early college career, he had 40 catches for 329 yards. He also scored three touchdowns. In 2020, his final year, he became a starter. He had a great season that year. He caught the ball 53 times for 882 yards. He also scored seven touchdowns.
Professional Football Career
Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs picked Cornell Powell in the 2021 NFL Draft. He was chosen in the fifth round. This was the 181st pick overall. He signed a four-year contract with the Chiefs.
Powell spent most of his time with the Chiefs on the practice squad. A practice squad is a group of players who train with the team. They can be called up to play in games if needed. He was waived by the Chiefs several times. This means the team let him go. But then he was often re-signed to the practice squad.
Powell was part of the Chiefs team that won two Super Bowl championships. The Chiefs won Super Bowl LVII in 2023. They beat the Philadelphia Eagles. He then won his second Super Bowl in 2024.
