Corona is a small place in Tipton County, Tennessee, United States. It's called an "unincorporated community" because it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town.
What makes Corona special is its location. An amazing event, the 1811–12 New Madrid earthquakes, changed the path of the Mississippi River. This change left Corona on the Arkansas side of the river, even though it's officially part of Tennessee! Most of Tipton County is on the Tennessee side, east of the river.

History of Corona
Big Earthquakes of 1811-1812
In 1811 and 1812, a series of very strong earthquakes shook the area. These quakes came from the New Madrid Seismic Zone, a place where the Earth's crust moves a lot. The powerful shaking actually shifted the ground, causing the Mississippi River to change its course.
These earthquakes cut off some parts of the Mississippi River that used to curve like a horseshoe. These curves are called "meanders." This happened along the western edge of Tipton County, Tennessee. Because of this, two communities, Corona and Reverie, ended up west of the river. Reverie is now completely surrounded by Mississippi County, Arkansas. Corona is surrounded by parts of both Mississippi and Crittenden Counties in Arkansas.
Tennessee and Arkansas Border
The official border between Tennessee and Arkansas was set a long time ago, on October 27, 1795. This was part of a deal called the "Treaty of Friendship, Limits, and Navigation." The border was decided to be the "middle of the channel or bed of the Mississippi River" as it was back then.
Even though the earthquakes in 1811 and 1812 changed the river's path, the state line did not move. It still follows where the middle of the Mississippi River was in 1795. This is why Corona, a Tennessee community, is now on the Arkansas side of the river!
Education for Kids
Because Corona is physically located in Arkansas, but is part of Tennessee, the state of Tennessee helps pay for children living in Corona to go to schools in Arkansas. This makes sure kids in Corona get to go to school even with their unique location.
