Corrales is a rural area, or barrio, located in the municipality of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. Think of a barrio like a neighborhood or a district within a larger town. In 2010, about 7,659 people lived here. One special part of Corrales barrio is called Cabán, which is a comunidad (community).
History of Corrales
Puerto Rico became a territory of the United States after the Spanish–American War. This happened in 1898, when Spain gave Puerto Rico to the U.S. as part of the Treaty of Paris of 1898.
In 1899, the U.S. government took a count of all the people in Puerto Rico. This count is called a census. The census found that Corrales and a nearby barrio called Caimital Alto had a combined population of 1,158 people.
