History of Correctionville
Correctionville was officially planned and laid out in 1855. It got its unique name because of its location on a special line used by land surveyors. This line is called a "correction line."

School District Changes
The River Valley Community School District was created on July 1, 1996. It was formed when two older school districts, the Eastwood Community School District and the Willow Community School District, joined together. Before that, the Eastwood school district was formed in 1966 by combining the Correctionville and Cushing school districts.
