Dacor Tremaine "Cory" Rodgers (born February 22, 1983) is a former American football player. He was a wide receiver, which means he was a player who catches passes from the quarterback. He played college football for Texas Christian University (TCU).

Cory Rodgers' Early Life and High School Football

Cory Rodgers grew up in Missouri City, Texas. He went to Hightower High School, where he was a star football player. He played as a quarterback for his high school team, the Hurricanes. He was so good that he was chosen for the All-District team twice. In his senior year, he was even named to the All-State team! During his junior and senior years, Cory scored 62 touchdowns and gained over 5,000 yards in total offense, showing how talented he was.

Cory Rodgers' College Football Journey at TCU

Cory Rodgers played college football at TCU from 2003 to 2005. He quickly became a favorite among the fans because of his amazing athletic skills, how he could play many different positions, and his strong, aggressive style of play. He wore the number 17 jersey while playing for TCU.

Freshman Year (2003)

In 2003, as a first-year player who had spent a year learning (called a redshirt freshman), Cory was second on his team with 37 catches for 590 yards. He scored 5 touchdowns from catches. He also ran the ball 17 times for 39 yards and 3 touchdowns. Cory was also great at returning kicks and punts. He averaged 22.1 yards per kickoff return and 11.0 yards per punt return. His total of 861 return yards broke a school record that had stood since 1937! He was recognized as one of the best new players in the Conference USA for both wide receiver and punt returner.

Sophomore Year (2004)

In 2004, Cory continued to shine. He led his team with 61 catches for 836 yards and 7 touchdowns. He also ran the ball 12 times for 35 yards and 2 touchdowns. He kept breaking his own records, gaining 906 total return yards that year. He was named to the All-CUSA team as a wide receiver and kick returner.

Junior Year (2005)

By 2005, his junior year, Cory again led the team with 52 catches for 685 yards and 5 touchdowns. He also ran the ball 17 times for 41 yards and 5 touchdowns. His kick return skills were even better, averaging 30.3 yards per kickoff return and 15.3 yards per punt return. He scored two touchdowns from kick returns, one for 87 yards and another for 100 yards, which was tied for the most in the country! The Mountain West Conference named him the best return specialist. He was also recognized as a first-team All-America kick returner by major sports organizations like ESPN and Sports Illustrated.

After his amazing junior season, Cory decided to enter the 2006 NFL draft instead of playing his senior year.
