About COTE Korean Steakhouse
COTE Korean Steakhouse is known for its special way of combining two popular food styles. It brings together the fun of Korean barbecue, where you cook meat at your table, with the fancy feel of an American steakhouse. This idea came from Simon Kim, who grew up with both Korean and American cultures.
How COTE Started
Simon Kim was born in Seoul, South Korea. He moved to Long Island, New York when he was 13. His dream was to create a restaurant that showed off both parts of his background. He wanted to offer amazing Korean barbecue with the high-quality meat you find in a top steakhouse.
Special Awards and Recognition
COTE New York earned its first Michelin star within just one year of opening. A Michelin star is like an Oscar for restaurants. It means the food is excellent. The Michelin Guide also praised COTE's interesting list of wines.
COTE has also won many awards from the famous James Beard Foundation. This group gives out important awards for food and restaurants. COTE won "Best New Restaurant" in 2018. It also won "Outstanding Wine Program" in both 2019 and 2020. In 2022, the Miami location also earned a Michelin star.
What Makes COTE Special?
COTE Korean Steakhouse does something very unique. They dry age their steaks right in the restaurant. This process makes the meat taste even better and more tender. COTE is the only Korean steakhouse in New York with its own dry-aging room. A food critic from the New York Times said COTE's beef was better than any other Korean BBQ in New York. The Miami COTE even has a special lab to ferment vegetables.
