Courtland is a small community in Sacramento County, California, United States. It's known as a census-designated place, which means it's a special area defined for gathering population information. Courtland is located along the Sacramento River, about 17 miles (27 km) south of the city of Sacramento.
Courtland has its own post office with the ZIP code 95615. This post office has been around since 1872. The community was named after Courtland Sims. He was the son of James V. Sims, a local landowner who started a place for steamboats to land in 1870.

The Pear Fair
Courtland is famous for hosting the annual Pear Fair. This fun event celebrates the harvest of Bartlett pears from the California Delta region. It's a long-standing tradition that started in 1972. Unfortunately, the 2020 Pear Fair had to be canceled because of the Covid-19 crisis.
