Craig Lynden Sharmat (born October 8, 1957) is an American musician. He writes music for TV shows and movies. He is also a talented guitarist. His guitar playing has been popular on the smooth jazz music charts.
Craig has created music for many types of shows. These include reality TV, cartoons, commercials, and documentaries. He has also played guitar for many songs and helped other artists. He released his first jazz song, "So Cal Drivin'," in 2009. His second album, Outside In, has a song called "Ease Up" that reached number two on the Billboard Smooth Jazz chart.
About Craig Sharmat
Craig Sharmat was born in New York City. He studied music at Syracuse University and The University of Arizona. He also went to a special music school called G.I.T. (now Musicians Institute).
In his early career, Craig played guitar at many shows. By 1983, he was playing in Las Vegas. In 1985, he moved back to Los Angeles. There, he became the guitarist for saxophonist Ronnie Laws. He also toured with singer Randy Crawford.
Craig then started writing music for TV shows. He worked on Disney's Kids Incorporated for three years. He also wrote background music for the TV series Xuxa.
Since 1995, Craig has written music for America's Most Wanted. This led him to work with Sirens Media. He wrote the main theme music for The Real Housewives of New Jersey and other shows. He also wrote the opening music for the 2007 MTV Movie Awards, which featured Sarah Silverman.
In 2008, Craig wrote the music for the movie Gotta Dance. In 2011, he scored the film Carol Channing Larger Than Life. This movie was made by Tony award winner Dori Berinstein.
Craig also runs a company called Scoredog Music. This company provides music for many TV shows. He has also written a lot of music for Warner/Chappell Music. This is a big music library in Nashville, Tennessee.
Craig's Family and Books
Craig Sharmat's mother is Marjorie Weinman Sharmat. She is a famous children's writer. She is best known for her series about Nate the Great, a boy detective. His father, Mitchell Sharmat, created Nate's cousin, Olivia Sharp.
In the 1990s, Craig Sharmat and his mother wrote three Nate the Great books together. All three books were illustrated by Nate's co-creator Marc Simont.
