A Look at Crestview's Past
Crestview started as a town called Vet Village in 1948. It was founded by soldiers who had returned home after World War II.
How Vet Village Became Crestview
The first mayor of Vet Village was William Toner. He was a veteran, just like the other first residents. These residents included Michael Guidugli, Harold Shingshang, Edward Storer, and Robert Munninghoff. They were the first to build homes in this small new city.
Vet Village was built on farmland. It was less than 10 miles (about 16 km) from downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. This made it a great place for young soldiers and their families to live.
In 1950, the people living in Vet Village decided to change the city's name. They held a contest, and the name Crestview was chosen.
