Cristhian Ricardo Stuani Curbelo (born on October 12, 1986) is a professional footballer from Uruguay. He plays as a striker and is the captain for the La Liga club Girona.
Stuani began his career at Danubio in Uruguay. In 2008, he moved to Italy to play for Reggina. He spent most of his career playing in Spain for different clubs, including Espanyol. In 2015, he joined Middlesbrough in England. Two years later, he moved back to Spain to play for Girona.
He first played for the Uruguay national team in 2012. He represented his country in two World Cups and three Copa América tournaments. Stuani also has an Italian passport.

Club Career Highlights
Starting in Uruguay
Cristhian Stuani was born in Tala, Canelones, Uruguay. He started his professional football journey with Danubio. In 2005, he played on loan for Bella Vista in the Uruguayan Segunda División. He played so well that Danubio called him back to their team.
Moving to Europe
In January 2008, Stuani joined Reggina, a club in Italy. He had scored 19 goals for Danubio before this move. He signed a four-year contract with the Serie A club. He played his first game for Reggina on January 12, 2008.
Stuani then spent time on loan with several Spanish clubs. In 2009, he joined Albacete in the Segunda División. He scored 22 goals in 39 matches that season. This included scoring three goals in one game (a hat-trick) against Castellón and Córdoba.
For the 2010–11 season, Stuani moved to Levante, a team in La Liga, Spain's top league. He was often a substitute but still scored eight goals. He even scored twice in a 3–1 win against Málaga. The next season, he was loaned to Racing de Santander. He scored important goals in the Copa del Rey cup competition.
Playing for Espanyol
In the summer of 2012, Stuani signed a four-year contract with Espanyol. This club also plays in La Liga. In his last year at Espanyol, during the 2014–15 season, he scored 12 goals. This made him the second-highest scorer for his team that year.
Time in England with Middlesbrough
On July 15, 2015, Stuani moved to England to play for Middlesbrough. They were in the Football League Championship at the time. He made his first appearance on August 9, 2015. Just three days later, he scored two goals in a cup game against Oldham Athletic. He scored two more goals in the next round of the cup.
Stuani scored his first league goal on August 29, 2015, against Sheffield Wednesday. He helped Middlesbrough get promoted to the Premier League in May 2016. He scored a crucial goal in the final game of the season against Brighton & Hove Albion. On August 21, 2016, he scored his first goals in the Premier League. He scored two goals in a 2–1 win against Sunderland.
Success with Girona
On July 21, 2017, Stuani joined Girona. Girona had just been promoted to Spain's top league. He had a great start, scoring two goals in his first game against Atlético Madrid. He finished his first season with 21 goals, making him one of the top scorers in the league.
On March 10, 2019, Stuani became Girona's all-time top scorer in the top league. He scored his 38th goal for the club. Even though he scored 19 goals during the 2018–19 season, Girona was relegated to the second division.
Many clubs, including Barcelona, wanted to sign Stuani. However, he decided to stay with Girona and extended his contract until 2023. He continued to be a top scorer for Girona. He scored 29 goals in the 2019–20 season, which was his best ever. He also scored 24 goals in the 2021–22 season. Girona returned to La Liga through the play-offs in 2022.
Stuani has continued to play a big role for Girona. In the 2023–24 season, he helped his team finish third in La Liga. This meant Girona qualified for the UEFA Champions League for the first time ever. On September 18, 2024, Stuani played in the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain. At 37 years and 342 days old, he became the oldest player to start in the league phase of the competition.
International Career

Stuani played his first game for the Uruguay senior team on November 14, 2012. It was a friendly match against Poland, which Uruguay won 3–1. On September 10, 2013, he scored his first goal for his country. This helped Uruguay win 2–0 against Colombia in a World Cup qualifier.
Stuani was chosen to play for Uruguay in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. He scored in two warm-up matches before the tournament. He played his first World Cup game on June 14, 2014, against Costa Rica.
He was also part of Uruguay's squad for the 2015 Copa América. He played in two matches during this tournament.
Stuani was selected for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. He played in the round-of-16 match against Portugal. He also started in the quarter-final match against France due to another player's injury.
Stuani played for Uruguay for seven years. He earned 50 caps (played 50 games) and scored eight goals for his country.
