Cristhian Ricardo Stuani Curbelo (born 12 October 1986) is a professional footballer from Uruguay. He plays as a striker and is the captain for La Liga club Girona.
Stuani started his career at Danubio in Uruguay. In 2008, he moved to Italy to play for Reggina. He has spent most of his career playing in Spain for several clubs, including Espanyol. In 2015, he joined Middlesbrough in England. Two years later, he moved back to Spain to play for Girona.
Stuani first played for the Uruguay national team in 2012. He has represented his country in two World Cups and three Copa América tournaments. He also has an Italian passport.

Starting in Uruguay: Danubio
Cristhian Stuani was born in Tala, Uruguay. He began his professional football journey with Danubio. In 2005, he was loaned to Bella Vista. He played very well there and was called back to Danubio.
Playing in Italy: Reggina
In January 2008, Stuani joined Reggina in Italy. He signed a four-year contract with the Serie A club. He made his first official appearance on 12 January. He played 30 minutes in a 1–1 draw against Empoli.
Stuani did not score in his first 12 games for Reggina. The team managed to stay in the top division that season. In the 2008–09 season, he scored his only league goal from a penalty kick. This was in the last game, a 1–1 draw against Siena. Reggina was relegated to a lower league that season.
Loans in Spain: Albacete, Levante, Racing Santander
On 31 July 2009, Stuani was loaned to Albacete in Spain's Segunda División (second division). He had a great season, scoring 22 goals in 39 games. This included three goals in one game (a hat-trick) against Castellón and Córdoba. He was the second-highest scorer in the league.
For the 2010–11 season, Stuani stayed in Spain. He was loaned to La Liga club Levante. He often came on as a substitute. He still scored eight goals, which was the second-best for his team. He scored two goals in a 3–1 win against Málaga.
In the next season, Stuani was loaned to another top Spanish team, Racing de Santander. In December 2011, he scored two goals in each game of a Copa del Rey match against Rayo Vallecano. His late penalty in the second game helped his team win on the away goals rule. The total score was 6–6.
Time at Espanyol
In the summer of 2012, Stuani signed a four-year contract with Espanyol. In his last year at Espanyol, he scored 12 goals. This was the second-highest number of goals for his team.
Playing in England: Middlesbrough
On 15 July 2015, Stuani moved to Middlesbrough in England. The transfer cost around €3 million. His first game in the Football League Championship was on 9 August. He came on as a substitute in a 0–0 draw against Preston North End. Three days later, he started his first game in the League Cup. He scored two goals in a 3–1 win over Oldham Athletic. He scored another two goals in the next round against Burton Albion.
Stuani scored his first league goal on 29 August 2015 in a 3–1 win at Sheffield Wednesday. Later, he scored two goals in a win against Brentford.
On 28 December 2015, Stuani scored the only goal in a home game against Sheffield Wednesday. This goal put Middlesbrough at the top of the league table. He scored again in the final game of the season on 7 May. This goal helped Middlesbrough get promoted to the Premier League.
On 21 August 2016, Stuani scored his first goals in the Premier League. He scored two goals against Sunderland in a 2–1 win.
Return to Spain: Girona
On 21 July 2017, Stuani joined Girona. Girona had just been promoted to the Spanish top league. He made his debut for the club on 19 August. He started the game and scored two goals in a 2–2 draw against Atlético Madrid. In his first year, he finished as the fifth-highest scorer in the league with 21 goals.
On 10 March 2019, Stuani became Girona's all-time top scorer in the top division. He scored his 38th goal in a 2–3 loss to Valencia. He scored 19 goals during the 2018–19 season. However, the team was relegated on the last day of the season.
After relegation, many clubs, including Barcelona, wanted to sign Stuani. But he decided to stay and extended his contract with Girona until 2023. He missed the first two league games due to an injury. But he scored in his first game on 1 September 2019, helping Girona win 1–0 against Málaga. The next weekend, he scored three goals (a hat-trick) in a 3–1 win against Rayo Vallecano.
Stuani's International Career

Stuani played his first senior game for Uruguay on 14 November 2012. It was a friendly match against Poland, which Uruguay won 3–1. On 10 September of the next year, he scored his first international goal. This helped Uruguay win 2–0 against Colombia in a World Cup qualifier. On 13 November 2013, he scored Uruguay's second goal in a 5–0 win against Jordan.
Stuani was chosen by manager Óscar Tabárez to play in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. He scored in both of Uruguay's warm-up matches before the tournament. He scored the only goal against Northern Ireland. He also scored the second goal in a 2–0 win over Slovenia. He played his first World Cup game on 14 June, starting in a 3–1 loss to Costa Rica. He also came on as a substitute in three other games.
Stuani was part of Uruguay's squad for the 2015 Copa América the following year. He played as a substitute in two games. Uruguay reached the quarter-finals of the tournament.
Stuani was also in the squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. His first game in the competition was on 30 June. He came on for Edinson Cavani in the last 16 minutes of a 2–1 win over Portugal. He started the next game because Cavani was injured. He played 59 minutes in the 2–0 loss against France.
