Cristiano Zanetti (born 10 April 1977) is a retired Italian footballer who played as a midfielder. He is also a football coach. He last coached the team Massese.
Zanetti played for many Italian clubs during his career. He won important titles with teams like Fiorentina, Roma, Inter, and Juventus. He also played for the Italy national football team in major international tournaments. These included the 2000 Summer Olympics, the 2002 FIFA World Cup, and UEFA Euro 2004.

Club Career Highlights
Starting His Football Journey
Cristiano Zanetti began his professional career at Fiorentina in 1993. He played there until 1996. After that, he played for Venezia (1996–97) and Reggiana (1997–98). During his time with Fiorentina, he helped the team win the Coppa Italia in 1996.
Joining Inter Milan and Roma
In 1998, at age 21, Zanetti joined Inter Milan. He then went on loan to Cagliari. In 1999, he moved to Roma. Under coach Fabio Capello, he quickly became a key player. He helped Roma win the Scudetto (the Italian league title) in the 2000–01 season.
Return to Inter Milan
In 2001, Zanetti returned to Inter Milan. He was a regular starter for the team. With Inter, he reached the semi-finals of the 2001–02 UEFA Cup and the 2002–03 UEFA Champions League. He also nearly won the Serie A title in those seasons. Later, he won more trophies with Inter. These included two Coppa Italia titles in 2005 and 2006. He also won the Supercoppa Italiana in 2005. Inter was also awarded the Serie A title for the 2005–06 season.
Playing for Juventus
In 2006, Zanetti moved to Juventus. Even though Juventus had faced some issues and was moved down to a lower league, Zanetti joined them. He helped Juventus win the Serie B title in 2007. This win brought Juventus back to Serie A. The next season, he helped Juventus finish third in Serie A. This allowed them to play in the UEFA Champions League in 2008.
Back to Fiorentina and Brescia
On 10 August 2009, Zanetti signed with his first professional club, Fiorentina. He played for them as they prepared for the 2009–10 UEFA Champions League. He made his debut for Fiorentina in the Champions League against Liverpool. His pass led to Fiorentina's first goal in that match.
On 31 January 2011, Zanetti joined Brescia. He retired from playing football before the end of the 2011–12 Serie B season.
International Career
Cristiano Zanetti played for the Italian Under-21 team 19 times. He won the 2000 UEFA European Under-21 Championship with them. He also played for Italy at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney.
Later, he played for the senior Italian national team. He represented Italy at the 2002 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2004. In total, he played 17 games for the national team between 2001 and 2004. He scored one goal for Italy in a friendly match against Switzerland in 2003.
Playing Style
Zanetti was known as a hardworking and strong defensive midfielder. He had good vision and passing skills. He was good at winning the ball back from opponents and then starting new attacks. This also meant he could play as a central midfielder or even a deep-lying playmaker. Sometimes, he also played as a left-sided attacking midfielder.
Managerial Career
After retiring as a player, Zanetti became a coach. In 2013, he started coaching the youth team at Pisa. In 2014, he became a certified coach with a UEFA Pro Licence. He then coached the youth team at Prato in 2014. From 2017 to 2018, he was the manager of Massese.
