Crystal Lake is a small, private lake in Pontiac, Michigan. It covers about 12 acres. This lake is part of the main branch of the Clinton River. It is located in Oakland County, Michigan.

Just upstream from Crystal Lake, you'll find a much larger lake called Sylvan Lake. Sylvan Lake is about 532 acres in size.

After Crystal Lake, the Clinton River flows through Pontiac. For about 3,000 feet, the river actually goes underground! It flows through large pipes beneath the city. The river then comes back to the surface near Union Street and E. Huron Street (which is also M-59). From there, it continues its journey eastward towards Auburn Hills and other areas.

It might seem funny, but Crystal Lake was not always called Crystal Lake. Its first name was actually Mud Lake!
