Cuchillas is a rural area in Morovis, Puerto Rico. It is known as a barrio, which is a type of local division. Cuchillas has fourteen smaller parts called sectors. In 2010, about 2,333 people lived there.
History of Cuchillas
Puerto Rico was once controlled by Spain. After the Spanish–American War, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States. This happened in 1898 as part of the Treaty of Paris of 1898. Puerto Rico then became a territory of the United States.
In 1899, the United States government counted the people living in Puerto Rico. This was a census. The census found that 716 people lived in Cuchillas barrio at that time. The population has grown quite a bit since then.
