What's in a Name?

The exact reason for the name "Cupidstown" is not fully known. Some people think the word "Cupid" might have come from older names. These could include names like Cuthbert or Cudlipp. Another idea is that it might be linked to the word "coppis." A coppis is a small area of trees or bushes.

Exploring Cupidstown Hill

Cupidstown Hill is the highest point in County Kildare. It is nearly twice as tall as the famous Hill of Allen. However, Cupidstown Hill is not as well-known as some other hills in Kildare. This is because it is much smaller than bigger mountains nearby, like Kippure. The hill is located just above the small village of Kilteel. Among all the summits in Ireland, Cupidstown Hill ranks as the 872nd highest.
