Curls Run is a small stream, also known by names like Kirl, Kyrl, Carl, and Curl. It flows into Pidcock Creek in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. This stream is part of the larger Delaware River system, which means its water eventually flows into the Delaware River and then out to the Delaware Bay.

History of Curls Run

Curls Run got its name from an early landowner named Thomas Kirl. He owned land in Buckingham Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. In 1723, Robert Smith bought Kirl's land.

Other people who owned land along the creek included Harry Trego and Earl Daniels. The stream was first mentioned in official records in 1789. This was in an agreement about setting aside land for a schoolhouse. This school was known as the 'Red Schoolhouse'.

Later, in an atlas from 1891, the stream was mistakenly called 'Curtis Run'. This shows how names can sometimes change or get mixed up over time.

Facts and Figures about Curls Run

Curls Run is officially recognized by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The USGS is a science agency that studies the Earth. They gave Curls Run an identification number, 1202642, on April 1, 1990. This number helps to keep track of all the different streams and rivers in the United States.

Where Curls Run Flows

Curls Run starts in Upper Makefield Township. This is just east of a place called Pineville.

The stream first flows towards the northeast. Then, it turns north and goes through a small, unnamed pond. After that, it enters Buckingham Township.

It continues flowing northeast until it meets Pidcock Creek. This meeting point is called a confluence. It happens about 3.21 river miles up Pidcock Creek in Solebury Township. A river mile is a way to measure distance along a river from its mouth.
