History of Curls Run
Curls Run got its name from an early landowner named Thomas Kirl. He owned land in Buckingham Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. In 1723, Robert Smith bought Kirl's land.
Other people who owned land along the creek included Harry Trego and Earl Daniels. The stream was first mentioned in official records in 1789. This was in an agreement about setting aside land for a schoolhouse. This school was known as the 'Red Schoolhouse'.
Later, in an atlas from 1891, the stream was mistakenly called 'Curtis Run'. This shows how names can sometimes change or get mixed up over time.
