Where is Currajong?
Currajong is easy to find on a map! The North Townsville Road forms its northern edge. The Garbutt–Upper Ross Road runs along its north-western side. These roads help people get around and know where Currajong begins and ends.

Currajong is located on the traditional lands of the Wulgurukaba Aboriginal people. They are the original custodians of this area.
How Currajong Got Its Name
The name Currajong comes from a house in nearby West End. This house was owned by Edward Hunt. Around 1888, he planted special currajong trees in his garden. People think the suburb was named after these trees or his home.

St John Fisher's Christian Brothers College
- This school opened in 1952.
- It closed on December 11, 1987.

- The Marian School opened on January 21, 1988.
- It was created by combining St John Fisher's, St Margaret Mary’s Primary School, and Holy Family School.

Currajong State School
- Currajong State School first opened its doors on June 28, 1954.
- Even though it's called Currajong State School, it is now located in the neighbouring suburb of Gulliver.
