Vincent is a suburb with clear boundaries. It is bordered by major roads like Nathan Street to the west and Dalrymple Road to the north. Cambridge and Anne Streets are to the east, and Charles Street is to the south. Most of the land in Vincent is used for homes, but there's also a shopping center and two schools.
A Look at Vincent's History
Vincent is located on the traditional lands of the Wulgurukaba Aboriginal people.
The suburb was officially named Vincent on January 1, 1967. It was named after Major William Slade Vincent. He was an important military officer who led the 3rd Queensland Regiment, also known as the Kennedy Regiment, in Townsville.
Vincent State School, a local primary school, first opened its doors on January 30, 1968.
On March 20, 2012, parts of Vincent were hit by a tornado. This caused damage to buildings and trees in the area.
