Pimlico is a suburb located in Townsville, Queensland, Australia. It is part of the City of Townsville. In 2021, about 2,557 people called Pimlico home.

Where is Pimlico?
Pimlico is shaped like a rectangle. It stretches longer from north to south. Main roads like North Townsville Road (also called Woolcock Street) and Kings Road form its borders. The land in Pimlico is very flat. It is less than 10 meters (about 33 feet) above sea level. Most of the area has small, single-story homes.
The Story of Pimlico
Pimlico is on the traditional lands of the Aboriginal Wulgurukaba people. The suburb's name might come from a place in London called Pimlico. It could also be named after a horse racing track there. Pimlico State High School first opened its doors on January 27, 1959.

In 2016, about 2,460 people lived in Pimlico. By 2021, the population grew to 2,557 people.
Schools Near Pimlico
There are no schools directly inside Pimlico. However, several schools are very close by. For primary school, students can go to Hermit Park State School in Hyde Park. Mundingburra State School in Mundingburra and Currajong State School in Gulliver are also nearby. For high school, Pimlico State High School is in Gulliver, just next door. Townsville State High School in Railway Estate is also an option.
Places to Visit in Pimlico
Pimlico has some important places. Castletown Shopping Centre is a large shopping mall at the northern end of the suburb. It's a great place to find shops and services.
In the southern part of Pimlico, you'll find Townsville's biggest private hospital. This is the Mater Misericordiae Hospital. It is located on Fulham Road.
Also at the southern end of the suburb is Anderson Park. This is a large park, about 20 hectares (50 acres) in size. It is an arboretum, which means it has many different types of trees. You can see especially nice pandanus trees there.
Even though it's called Pimlico State High School, it's actually located just outside Pimlico's western border in Gulliver.
Community Groups
The Townsville branch of the Queensland Country Women's Association (CWA) meets in Pimlico. They have their hall at 36 Latchford Street. The Rosslea branch of the CWA also meets at this same hall. These groups help women in the community and work on local projects.
