Currituck is a small community in the northeastern part of North Carolina, United States. It's not an official town or city, but it's an "unincorporated community." This means it doesn't have its own local government like a city does.
Currituck is located right next to the Currituck Sound, which is a large body of water. It's also the "county seat" for Currituck County. A county seat is like the main town or center of a county, where the county government offices are located.
One cool thing about Currituck is the Knotts Island Ferry. This ferry offers free rides across the sound to Knotts Island. The main roads in the community are North Carolina Highway 168 (also called Caratoke Highway) and Courthouse Road. Even though it's called Currituck, the famous Currituck Beach Lighthouse is actually across the sound on the Outer Banks, not in mainland Currituck.
A long time ago, in the mid-1700s, this area was known as Currituck Court House. Over time, the "Court House" part of the name was dropped. The historic Currituck County Courthouse and Jail building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 because it's an important historical site.
