D'Arcy Short is an Australian cricketer born on August 9, 1990. He plays for the Australian team in international matches called One Day Internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). In Australia, he plays for the Western Australia team and the Adelaide Strikers. D'Arcy first played for Australia in February 2018.

About D'Arcy Short
D'Arcy Short was born in Katherine, Northern Territory. When he was about four years old, his family moved to Darwin. D'Arcy has Indigenous Australian heritage through his grandmother. Her family, the Migunberri people, are remembered at the Yugambeh Museum.
Early Life and Cricket
D'Arcy's parents owned an indoor sports center in Darwin. This meant he grew up playing lots of indoor cricket. He then moved on to play in the Darwin grade cricket leagues. When he was 16, he traveled between Darwin and Adelaide to play in a higher-level league. Later, he moved to Perth to get even more chances to play professional cricket.
Playing for Teams in Australia
D'Arcy Short started playing for the Western Australia team in November 2011. This was in a type of game called List A cricket. In his first game, he scored 3 runs. But he also took two wickets, which means he got two opposing batters out. One of these wickets was with only his second ball bowled! He bowls with a special style called left-arm unorthodox spin.
First-Class and T20 Cricket
In February 2010, D'Arcy played for Western Australia in the Futures League. This was after he played very well for the Northern Territory in a tournament called the Imparja Cup. He was also chosen to play for an Indigenous Australian cricket team. This team went on a tour to England in 2009. In March 2011, D'Arcy won an award as the Lord's Taverners Indigenous Cricketer of the Year.
D'Arcy played his first first-class game for Western Australia in November 2016. First-class cricket matches usually last several days. He then made his Twenty20 (T20) debut in December 2016. This was for the Hobart Hurricanes team in the 2016–17 Big Bash League season. In that game, he scored a very fast 61 runs off just 29 balls.
Big Bash League Success
On January 10, 2018, D'Arcy Short set a new record in the Big Bash League. He scored 122 runs without being out against the Brisbane Heat. This was the highest score by one player in a Big Bash League match at that time. During that season, D'Arcy scored a total of 578 runs. This included five half-centuries (scores over 50) and one century (score over 100). He scored the most runs of any player in the history of the competition. He also took 3 wickets and was named the Player of the Tournament.
Playing for Teams Around the World
In January 2018, D'Arcy was chosen to play for the Rajasthan Royals team in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The IPL is a very popular T20 cricket league in India.
In March 2019, D'Arcy signed to play for Durham in England. He played in their T20 Blast season. In his first game for Durham, he scored 46 runs and took 2 wickets. This helped his team win the match.
Later, in May 2021, D'Arcy signed with Hampshire Hawks for their T20 Blast season. He was also picked by the Trent Rockets for the first season of The Hundred. This is a new type of cricket game in England. In July 2022, he joined the Dambulla Giants for the Lanka Premier League in Sri Lanka.
International Cricket Career
In January 2018, D'Arcy Short was chosen for Australia's Twenty20 International (T20I) team. He made his T20I debut for Australia against New Zealand on February 3, 2018.
Memorable Matches
D'Arcy scored an amazing 76 runs from 46 balls against New Zealand in the same series. New Zealand had scored a huge total of 243 runs. D'Arcy and his opening partner, David Warner, started Australia's innings very strongly. They scored 121 runs together for the first wicket. Australia went on to win the match. This was the highest successful chase ever in T20I history. D'Arcy was named the man of the match for his great batting.
In May 2018, D'Arcy was also selected for Australia's One Day International (ODI) team. He played his first ODI game for Australia against England on June 16, 2018.
Record-Breaking Partnership
In June 2018, D'Arcy Short and Aaron Finch set a new record. They had the highest ever opening partnership in a T20I match. They scored 223 runs together against Zimbabwe. D'Arcy scored 46 runs, while Aaron Finch scored a world record 172 runs. This partnership of 223 runs is also the highest for any wicket in a T20I game. It was the first time two players scored over 200 runs together in a T20I. Australia won that match by 100 runs. This was their biggest winning margin in T20Is.
D'Arcy continued to play for Australia in T20I series, including against India in 2020.
