Aaron James Finch, born on November 17, 1986, is a famous Australian cricketer. He used to be the captain of Australia's One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket teams. Finch holds the record for two of the highest scores ever in T20 International matches. He scored 172 runs against Zimbabwe in 2018 and 156 runs against England in 2013.
Finch was a key player when Australia won the 2015 Cricket World Cup. Later, as captain, he led Australia to win their first-ever 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup in 2021. In 2018, he became the first player to reach 900 rating points in the official International Cricket Council (ICC) T20I rankings. He also played Test cricket for Australia, starting in 2018. After retiring from playing, Finch became a cricket commentator. He played for teams like Victoria and Melbourne Renegades in Australia. He is known as an opening batter and sometimes bowls left arm orthodox spin.

Early Cricket Days
When Aaron Finch was younger, he played cricket for the Colac West Cricket Club. He started as a wicket-keeper. As a right-handed batsman, he was chosen to play in the 2006 Under-19 Cricket World Cup held in Sri Lanka.
Finch became a regular player for the Victoria team in the 2009-2010 season. He scored his first century (100 runs) in first-class cricket against Tasmania at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). In 2012, while filling in as captain, he scored 154 runs against Queensland. This was a new record for Victoria in domestic one-day cricket.
After playing for the Melbourne Renegades in the first Big Bash League season in 2011, he became their captain in 2012. He was named the Big Bash League player of the year. Finch captained the Melbourne Renegades from 2012 until 2020. He stepped down to spend more time with his family. He returned to captain the team for part of the 2022-2023 season. In 2015, Finch was the first player to score 1,000 runs in the Big Bash. By January 2023, he became only the second player to score over 3,000 runs in the Big Bash.
Finch also played county cricket in England. He played for Yorkshire County Cricket Club in 2014 and 2015. Then he joined Surrey in 2016. In 2018, he scored 131 runs not out for Surrey in a T20 match. This was a new record for Surrey and the highest T20 score at the Hove County Ground.

Aaron Finch has played for many different teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has played for nine IPL teams, which is more than any other player. He first played for Rajasthan Royals in 2010. After that, he played for Delhi Daredevils for two seasons.
In 2013, he played for Pune Warriors India. In 2014, he joined Sunrisers Hyderabad, and in 2015, he played for Mumbai Indians. However, he didn't get to play much for Mumbai due to an injury.
In 2016, Gujarat Lions bought him, and he played for them for two seasons. Then, Kings XI Punjab bought him in 2018. He decided not to play in the 2019 IPL season to get ready for the 2019 Cricket World Cup. In 2020, Royal Challengers Bangalore signed him. In 2022, Finch joined the Kolkata Knight Riders as a replacement player.
Finch also played for the Melbourne Renegades from 2011-2012 until he retired after the 2023-2024 season. He also played for the Ruhuna Royals in Sri Lanka in 2012.

Finch started playing international cricket for Australia in a T20I match against England in January 2011. Two years later, he made his One Day International (ODI) debut against Sri Lanka. In August 2013, Finch set a new record for the highest score in a Twenty20 International. He scored 156 runs from just 63 balls against England. This amazing innings included 14 sixes, which was also a record at the time. He was the first player to score 150 runs in a T20I match. In 2014, he was named the Men's T20I Player of the Year by Cricket Australia.
Finch was part of Australia's team for the 2015 Cricket World Cup. In their first match against England, he scored 135 runs, helping Australia win. Even though he was the top-ranked T20I batsman, he was not picked for the first two matches of Australia's 2016 ICC World T20 campaign. He was brought back for the last two matches.
In 2015, Finch played in an unusual warm-up game where he scored his highest first-class cricket innings. He scored 288 runs not out and was part of a record-breaking 503-run opening partnership. This partnership set a new record for the highest partnership in Australian first-class cricket history.
In January 2017, Finch became the stand-in captain for the first ODI against New Zealand. This happened because the regular captain, Matthew Wade, was injured. Finch continued to captain the team for the rest of that series.
In April 2018, Cricket Australia gave him a national contract. In July, he scored 172 runs against Zimbabwe, setting another new record for the highest T20I individual score. He hit 10 sixes in that innings. He also had a world record T20I opening partnership of 223 runs with D'Arcy Short.
In September 2018, he was chosen for Australia's Test cricket team to play against Pakistan. He made his Test debut on October 7, scoring 62 and 49 runs in his two innings.
In April 2019, Finch was named the captain of Australia's team for the 2019 Cricket World Cup. In August 2021, Finch was named captain of Australia's squad for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. He then led Australia to win their first-ever T20 World Cup, beating New Zealand in the final.
On September 10, 2022, Finch announced he was retiring from ODI cricket. He still planned to play T20Is and led Australia in their T20 World Cup defense in late 2022. On February 7, 2023, Aaron Finch announced his retirement from all international cricket.
