Aaron James Finch (born 17 November 1986) is an Australian cricket commentator and a former international cricket player. He used to be the captain of the Australian cricket team for ODI and T20I matches.
Finch holds the record for two of the three highest individual scores in T20 International games. His score of 172 against Zimbabwe in July 2018 broke his own record of 156 against England in 2013. He was part of the Australian team that won the 2015 Cricket World Cup. Later, as captain, he led Australia to win their first ever 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup title.
In July 2018, he became the first player to reach 900 rating points in the official International Cricket Council (ICC) T20I rankings. He also played Test matches for Australia, starting in October 2018. After retiring from playing, Finch became a cricket commentator.

Early Cricket Days
When Aaron Finch was younger, he played cricket for the Colac West Cricket Club. He started as a wicket-keeper. As a right-handed batsman, he was chosen to play in the 2006 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Sri Lanka.
Finch became a regular player for the Victorian team in the 2009/10 season. He scored his first century (100 runs) in first-class cricket against Tasmania. In October 2012, while leading the team as captain, he scored 154 runs against Queensland. This was a new record for Victoria in domestic one-day cricket.
Big Bash League Success
Finch played for the Melbourne Renegades in the first ever Big Bash League season in 2011. He became the team's captain in 2012 and was named the Big Bash League player of the year. He captained the Melbourne Renegades until 2020. He later returned to captain the team for part of the 2022/23 season.
In December 2015, Finch was the first player to score 1,000 runs in the Big Bash League. By January 2023, he became only the second player to score over 3,000 runs in the league.
Playing for Other Teams
Finch also played county cricket in England. He played for Yorkshire County Cricket Club in 2014 and 2015, and then for Surrey starting in 2016. In July 2018, he scored 131 not out for Surrey in a T20 match. This was a new record for Surrey and the highest T20 score at the Hove County Ground.

Aaron Finch has played for many different teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has played for nine IPL teams, which is more than any other player. His first IPL team was Rajasthan Royals in 2010. He then played for teams like Delhi Daredevils, Pune Warriors India, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Mumbai Indians.
In 2016, he joined Gujarat Lions for two seasons. Later, he played for Kings XI Punjab and Royal Challengers Bangalore. In 2022, he was signed by the Kolkata Knight Riders. Besides the IPL, Finch also played for the Ruhuna Royals in Sri Lanka in 2012.

Finch played his first international game for Australia in a T20I match against England in January 2011. Two years later, he made his One Day International (ODI) debut against Sri Lanka.
In August 2013, Finch set a new record for the highest individual score in a Twenty20 International. He scored 156 runs from just 63 balls against England. This amazing innings included 14 sixes, which was also a record at the time. He was the first player to score 150 runs in a T20I match. In 2014, he was named the Men's T20I Player of the Year by Cricket Australia.
Finch was part of Australia's team for the 2015 Cricket World Cup. In Australia's first game against England, he scored 135 runs, helping his team win.
In April 2018, Finch was given a national contract by Cricket Australia. In July, he scored 172 runs against Zimbabwe, setting a new record for the highest T20I individual score. He hit 10 sixes in this innings. He also shared a world record opening partnership of 223 runs with D'Arcy Short.
In September 2018, he was chosen for Australia's Test match team to play against Pakistan. He made his Test debut on 7 October, scoring 62 and 49 runs in his two innings.
In April 2019, Finch was named the captain of Australia's team for the 2019 Cricket World Cup. In August 2021, he was named captain for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. Finch led Australia to win their first ever T20 World Cup, beating New Zealand in the final.
On 10 September 2022, Finch announced he was retiring from ODI cricket. However, he continued to play in T20Is and captained Australia in the T20 World Cup in October and November 2022. On 7 February 2023, Aaron Finch announced his retirement from all international cricket.

During his career, Aaron Finch scored 19 centuries (100 runs or more) in international cricket. He scored 17 centuries in One Day Internationals and two in Twenty20 Internationals.

Personal Life
Aaron Finch is married to Amy Griffith, and they have a daughter. He is a big fan of the Australian Football League team, the Geelong Cats.
