Danny Franklin "DJ" Ware, Jr. (born February 18, 1985) is a former American football player. He played as a running back, which is a player who primarily runs with the ball. DJ Ware was not chosen in the NFL draft but was signed by the Tennessee Titans in 2007. He played college football at the University of Georgia.
Ware is well-known for winning two Super Bowl championships. He earned these rings with the New York Giants. Both wins were against the New England Patriots. He also played for the New York Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Early Life and College Football
DJ Ware grew up in Aragon, Georgia. He went to Rockmart High School. There, he was a talented football player. After high school, he spent one year at Hargrave Military Academy. He showed his skills by rushing for 653 yards and scoring four touchdowns.
From 2003 to 2006, Ware played college football for the University of Georgia. He was an important part of the team. In 2004, he became a starting player. This happened when the main running back got injured. Ware stepped up and rushed for 135 yards in his first start. That year, he led his team with 692 rushing yards. He also scored four touchdowns. His efforts helped the Bulldogs finish with a strong 10-2 record.
During his college career at Georgia, Ware rushed for a total of 1,486 yards. He scored eight touchdowns. He also caught 28 passes for 357 yards and two scores.
Professional Football Career
DJ Ware began his professional career in 2007. He joined the New York Giants. He played for them from 2007 to 2011.
In 2010, Ware rushed for 73 yards for the Giants. He also caught seven passes for 67 yards. He played in 14 games that season. In 2009, he rushed for 73 yards and had three catches.
Ware and the Giants reached the Super Bowl XLVI at the end of the 2011 season. This was a very exciting game. The Giants played against the New England Patriots. Ware had one carry for six yards and one catch for eight yards. The Giants won the Super Bowl with a score of 21–17. This was his second Super Bowl win with the team.
During his time with the Giants, Ware rushed for 324 yards. He scored one touchdown. He also caught 10 passes for 82 yards. He played in 29 games for the team.
The Giants released Ware on August 31, 2012. After that, he played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for one season. He was released by the Buccaneers in April 2013.
