Dachsen is a small town, also called a municipality, located in the Andelfingen district. It's part of the Zürich canton in Switzerland.

Dachsen has a long history! It was first mentioned way back in the year 876. Back then, it was known by a slightly different name: Tahsheim.

Dachsen covers an area of about 2.7 square kilometers (about 1 square mile). A big part of this land, about 52.8%, is used for farming. Forests cover 13% of the area.
About 25.3% of Dachsen has buildings or roads. The remaining 8.9% is made up of natural features like rivers. The town is built along one main street on a flat area near the Rhine river. Even though it's in the canton of Zürich, it's considered part of the larger city area of Schaffhausen.
