Daisy Geyser is a famous geyser found in Yellowstone National Park in the United States. It's located in an area called the Upper Geyser Basin, which is full of amazing hot springs and geysers.

What is Daisy Geyser?

Daisy Geyser is a special type of hot spring that shoots hot water and steam into the air. It's part of a group of geysers known as the Daisy Group. People from the Hague Geological Surveys gave it its name back in the 1880s.

How Daisy Geyser Erupts

Daisy Geyser is known for being one of the most predictable geysers in Yellowstone. This means scientists can often guess when it will erupt. It usually erupts every 110 to 240 minutes, which is about every 2 to 4 hours.

When it erupts, the show lasts for about 3 to 5 minutes. The water shoots out at an angle, not straight up. It can reach an amazing height of up to 75 feet (about 23 meters)! That's as tall as a seven-story building!

Geyser Neighbors and Connections

Sometimes, the eruptions of Daisy Geyser can change. This happens if another geyser nearby, called Splendid Geyser, erupts. Splendid Geyser can make Daisy Geyser erupt sooner or later than expected.

Other water features like Brilliant Pool and Comet Geyser are also slightly affected by both Splendid and Daisy Geyser. It's like they are all connected underground!

How Earthquakes Affect Geysers

Did you know that even earthquakes far away can affect geysers? In 2002, a big earthquake happened in Alaska. This earthquake, called the Denali earthquake, actually changed how often Daisy Geyser erupted.

Right after the earthquake, Daisy Geyser started erupting much more often. But don't worry, after a few weeks, its eruption schedule went back to normal. This shows how sensitive these natural wonders are to changes in the Earth.
