Daniel Chicoine (born November 30, 1957) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He played as a forward and spent time in the National Hockey League (NHL). He played 31 games for the Cleveland Barons and Minnesota North Stars between 1977 and 1980.

Daniel Chicoine's Hockey Journey

Starting in Junior Hockey

Daniel Chicoine began his hockey career playing in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). He played for the Sherbrooke Castors from 1973 to 1977. During his time with the Castors, he was a strong scorer. He often had many goals and assists each season.

In his last two seasons with the Castors, he scored 44 and 46 goals respectively. This showed he was a talented player. His team also played in the Memorial Cup, which is a big championship for junior hockey teams in Canada.

Playing in the NHL

After his successful junior career, Daniel was drafted by two professional leagues in 1977. He was picked by the Cleveland Barons in the NHL. He was also drafted by the Quebec Nordiques in the World Hockey Association (WHA).

Daniel played a few games in the NHL. He joined the Cleveland Barons for six games in the 1977–78 season. Later, he played for the Minnesota North Stars. He played one game for them in 1978–79 and 24 games in 1979–80.

Time in Minor Leagues

Besides the NHL, Daniel also played in other professional leagues. He played for teams like the Phoenix Roadrunners and Oklahoma City Stars in the Central Professional Hockey League (CHL). He also played for the New Haven Nighthawks and Sherbrooke Jets in the American Hockey League (AHL). These leagues are often where players develop their skills.

International Play

Daniel Chicoine also represented Canada on the international stage. He played in the 1976 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships. This was a chance for him to compete against top young players from other countries. He scored two goals in four games during that tournament.
