Dane is a village in Dane County, Wisconsin, United States. It is a small community that is part of the larger Madison area. In 2020, about 1,117 people lived in the village.

History of Dane Village
The first post office in Dane opened in 1844. A post office is where mail is sorted and sent out. The village was named after Nathan Dane, who helped write an important law called the Northwest Ordinance. This law set rules for how new territories in the United States would become states.
The village of Dane officially became an incorporated village in April 1899. This means it gained its own local government. The community's St. Michael Catholic Church was damaged by lightning in 1974, but it was later rebuilt.

The village of Dane covers a total area of about 1.14 square miles (3.09 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with only a very small part being water.
The main road in Dane is Wisconsin Highway 113. It runs through the village as Main Street, going from east to west. This highway connects Dane to other towns. If you go north on Highway 113, you will reach Lodi. If you go south, you will get to Waunakee.
