Dane William DeHaan (born in 1985 or 1986) is an American actor. He is known for playing many different characters in movies and TV shows. Some of his famous roles include Andrew Detmer in Chronicle (2012) and Harry Osborn / Green Goblin in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014). He also starred as Valerian in Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017) and Kenneth Nichols in Oppenheimer (2023). In recent years, he has also appeared in TV series like Lisey's Story (2021) and The Staircase (2022).

Early Life and School
Dane DeHaan was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania. His father works with computers, and his mother is a business executive. He has an older sister. Dane describes his childhood as very normal and supportive.
He went to Emmaus High School in Emmaus, Pennsylvania for three years. During this time, he acted in plays in his community. For his last year of high school, he moved to the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. He said this was the first time he was "around artists." He continued his studies there and graduated in 2008.
His Acting Journey
Dane DeHaan started his acting career on Broadway in 2008. He was a backup actor for Haley Joel Osment in a play called American Buffalo. In the same year, he appeared on TV for the first time in an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
First Roles and Big Breaks
In 2010, Dane made his first movie appearance in Amigo. He also played Jesse in the TV show In Treatment. In 2011, he was Timbo in True Blood. A big role came in 2012 when he starred in the science fiction film Chronicle. He also played Cricket in the movie Lawless.
In 2013, Dane received praise for his role as Lucien Carr in Kill Your Darlings. He also starred in Metallica's concert film Metallica: Through the Never.
Becoming a Movie Star
In 2014, Dane played Harry Osborn / Green Goblin in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. He also appeared in the movie Life After Beth. He even played a version of himself in the music video for Imagine Dragons' song "I Bet My Life".
In 2015, Dane starred as the famous actor James Dean in the movie Life. This film was about Dean's friendship with a photographer. In 2016, he was in the drama Two Lovers and a Bear and the horror film A Cure for Wellness.
In 2017, Dane starred in the big science fiction movie Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. This movie was based on a French comic book series. He also appeared in the historical romance Tulip Fever.
More recently, in 2019, Dane played Billy the Kid in the movie The Kid. From 2019 to 2020, he was Chris Lynwood in the TV series ZeroZeroZero. In 2020, he starred in the mini-series The Stranger. In 2022, he joined the cast of The Staircase. In 2023, he played Kenneth Nichols in the critically acclaimed film Oppenheimer.
Life Outside Acting
Dane DeHaan married actress Anna Wood on June 30, 2012. They met in high school in North Carolina and have been together since 2006. They both appeared in the movie Chronicle. They live in Williamsburg, New York City, with their two children.
