Dane William DeHaan is an American actor. He was born in 1985. He is known for playing many different characters in movies and TV shows. Some of his famous roles include Andrew Detmer in Chronicle and Harry Osborn in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. He also played Valerian in the science fiction movie Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. More recently, he appeared in the movie Oppenheimer in 2023.

His Early Life and School
Dane DeHaan was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania. His dad worked with computers. His mom was an executive at a company called MetLife. He has an older sister. He had a very normal and supportive childhood.
Dane went to Emmaus High School for three years. He also acted in plays in his community. For his last year of high school, he moved to the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. He said this was the first time he was around many other artists. He continued his studies there and graduated in 2008.
Starting His Acting Career
Dane DeHaan began acting professionally in 2008. He was an understudy for another actor in a play called American Buffalo on Broadway. In the same year, he appeared on TV for the first time. This was in an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
In 2010, Dane was in his first full-length movie, Amigo. He also played Jesse in the TV show In Treatment. In 2011, he had a role as Timbo in True Blood.

Big Roles in the Early 2010s
In 2012, Dane starred in the science fiction movie Chronicle. This movie was filmed to look like "found footage." He also played Cricket in the movie Lawless.
In 2013, Dane played Lucien Carr in Kill Your Darlings. Critics really liked his performance in this movie. He also starred as "Trip" in Metallica's concert film Metallica: Through the Never. He was featured on the cover of Hero magazine in October 2013.
Later Roles and Campaigns
In 2014, a famous photographer named Annie Leibovitz took pictures of Dane for a Prada clothing ad. That same year, he played Harry Osborn and the Green Goblin in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. He also appeared in the movie Life After Beth. Dane even played a version of himself in the music video for Imagine Dragons' song "I Bet My Life".
In 2015, Dane starred as James Dean in the movie Life. This movie was about Dean's friendship with a photographer. In 2016, Dane played Roman in Two Lovers and a Bear. He also played Lockhart in the horror movie A Cure for Wellness.
In 2017, Dane starred in the science fiction movie Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. This movie was based on a French comic book series. He also appeared in the movie Tulip Fever.
In 2019, Dane played Billy the Kid in the movie The Kid.

Dane DeHaan married actress Anna Wood on June 30, 2012. They met in high school in North Carolina. They have been together since 2006. They both appeared in the movie Chronicle in 2012. They live in Brooklyn, New York City, with their two children.
