Daniel Arzani (Persian: دنیل ارزانی; born on 4 January 1999) is a professional soccer player. He plays as a winger for the A-League Men club Melbourne Victory. Daniel was born in Iran, but he plays for the Australia national team.

Daniel Arzani's Soccer Journey
Starting in Australia
Daniel Arzani began his youth career playing for teams like Coogee United and Eastern Suburbs. He also spent time at the FFA CoE. In 2016, he played for the youth team of Sydney FC.
Melbourne City FC
Arzani joined Melbourne City in 2016. In January 2017, he scored a goal for the Melbourne City Youth team. This helped them win the 2016–17 A-League National Youth League Grand Final.
During the 2017–18 season, Daniel started to make a big impact. He often came on as a substitute and helped his team score goals. In January 2018, he won the A-League Player of the Month award. By April 2018, he was leading the league in successful dribbles. He also won the A-League Young Footballer of the Year award. This award is given to the best young player in the league. He also received the Harry Kewell Medal. This medal is for the best Australian male player under 23 years old.
Moving to Manchester City and Loans
In August 2018, Arzani moved to Manchester City. This club is part of the same group as Melbourne City. Manchester City planned to loan him out to other teams.
Loan to Celtic
Soon after joining Manchester City, Daniel was loaned to Celtic in Scotland. He made his first team debut for Celtic in October 2018. Sadly, he suffered a serious knee injury (a torn ACL) during this game. This injury kept him from playing for a long time. He returned to play for Celtic's first team in January 2020.
Loans to Other European Clubs
After Celtic, Daniel went on several other loan spells.
- In August 2020, he joined FC Utrecht in the Netherlands. He played in the top Dutch league, the Eredivisie.
- In January 2021, he moved to AGF in Denmark. He scored a goal in his first friendly match for the club.
- In August 2021, he was loaned to Lommel SK in Belgium. He scored his first league goal for Lommel in December 2021.
Back in Australia
Macarthur FC
In July 2022, Daniel returned to Australia to play for Macarthur FC. He quickly made an impact, scoring a goal and helping with two others in his first game. He helped Macarthur reach their first-ever Australia Cup final. On 1 October 2022, Daniel helped Macarthur win their first trophy by winning the 2022 Australia Cup Final. He scored his first league goal for the club in October 2022. He left Macarthur in July 2023 after one season.
Melbourne Victory FC
On 9 July 2023, Daniel signed a two-year deal with Melbourne Victory. He scored goals in pre-season friendly matches. He made his league debut for the club in October 2023. Daniel scored his first league goal for Melbourne Victory in December 2023. In April 2024, he scored two goals in one game for the first time with the club. He finished his first season leading his team in assists. He also helped Victory reach the Grand Final.
For the 2024–25 season, Daniel played a key role in helping Victory reach the Australia Cup final. He continues to be a strong player for Melbourne Victory.
Playing for Australia
Youth Teams
Daniel has played for Australia at different youth levels. This includes the under-17, under-20, and under-23 teams. Because his family is from Iran, he could have chosen to play for either Iran or Australia. In 2018, he decided to play for Australia.
He scored his first goals for the under-23 team in June 2021. This was during preparations for the Olympics. In July 2021, Daniel was chosen for Australia's Olympic squad. He played in all three group stage matches at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
Senior National Team
At just 19 years old, Daniel was chosen for Australia's team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He made his international debut for Australia in June 2018. He became the youngest Australian player ever to be in a World Cup squad. He was also the youngest player overall at the 2018 World Cup.
Daniel scored his first goal for Australia in a friendly match against Hungary. He made his World Cup debut on 16 June 2018 against France. He was 19 years and 163 days old, making him the youngest Australian to play in a World Cup game. He played as a substitute in all three World Cup matches.
In 2024, Daniel returned to the national team for World Cup qualifiers.

Daniel Arzani is known for his amazing speed and skillful dribbling. He can play on either side of the field as a winger. He can also play behind the main striker. He grew up playing street football and futsal. This helped him develop his quick moves and ball control.

Personal Life
Daniel was born in Iran to Sima and John Arzani. He has a brother named Benjamin. When Daniel was seven years old, his family moved to Australia. He grew up in Sydney before moving to Melbourne. He can speak both English and Persian fluently. Daniel went to St Spyridon College, Sydney Boys High School, and La Trobe University.
