Danielle Nicole Herrington, born on May 26, 1993, is an American model. She is famous for being featured in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. In 2018, she made history by appearing on the cover. She was the third African-American woman to achieve this, following Tyra Banks (in 1997) and Beyonce (in 2007).

Early Life and Home
Danielle Herrington grew up in Compton, California. Later, she moved to Brooklyn's Bushwick neighborhood. She went to Gahr High School in Cerritos, California. However, she left school in her second year. She chose to be homeschooled instead. This allowed her to focus more on her modeling career. Danielle came from a family where everyone worked hard. She describes her childhood as normal. She was very focused on her schoolwork until she started college.
Her Modeling Journey
Danielle Herrington started dreaming of becoming a professional model when she was only 8 years old. Her mother encouraged her to attend John Casablancas' modeling school. She went there when she was about 10 or 11. Danielle began modeling professionally at age 13.
Rising to Fame
In November 2016, Danielle was featured in GQ magazine. At that time, she had fewer than 10,000 followers on Instagram. She was known as a rising Instagram model. She had already worked for famous brands like Victoria's Secret.
First Big Photoshoot
Danielle first appeared in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in 2017. She got this job just four months after moving to New York City. She moved there at age 21 to pursue her modeling dreams. Her photoshoot for the 2017 Swimsuit Issue took place in Fiji. This was her first really big photoshoot.
Runway Debut
Her first time walking on a fashion runway was in September 2017. This was her debut at New York Fashion Week. She walked for Philipp Plein's spring show. She shared the runway with other famous models like Irina Shayk and Adriana Lima.
Making History on the Cover
Danielle was chosen as the cover model for the 2018 SI Swimsuit Issue. This was a huge achievement. She became the third black woman to appear on the cover. Before her, Tyra Banks was on the cover in 1997. Beyonce was on the cover in 2007. Danielle shot the 2018 Swimsuit Issue in the beautiful Bahamas. She also walked the runway for Philipp Plein a second time. This was for their Fall 2018 show.
