Daniel Richard McBride (born December 29, 1976) is an American actor, comedian, writer, and producer. He is famous for his funny roles in movies and for creating popular TV shows. For his work, he has been nominated for major awards, including a Primetime Emmy Award.
McBride started his movie career in 2003 in the film All the Real Girls. He became well-known for starring in comedy movies like Hot Rod (2007), Pineapple Express (2008), and Tropic Thunder (2008). He became a big star with his lead role as Kenny Powers in the HBO TV series Eastbound & Down, which he also co-created. The show was on from 2009 to 2013.
Throughout his career, McBride has also done voice acting in animated movies. Early Life and Education
Danny McBride was born in Statesboro, Georgia. His mother, Kathy Rudy, and his stepfather both worked at Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia. McBride has Irish, Scottish, English, and Jewish family roots. He was raised in the Baptist church.
McBride has said that church was a big part of his childhood. His mother used puppets to perform sermons, which he says sparked his interest in telling stories. He grew up in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, and went to Courtland High School. After high school, he studied at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where he met many of the people he would later work with in Hollywood.
Career
First Steps in Film
McBride's first acting role was in the 2003 movie All the Real Girls, which was directed by his friend David Gordon Green. In 2006, he starred in the comedy The Foot Fist Way, which he also co-wrote. This movie helped him get noticed for his unique style of comedy.
Breakthrough with TV and Movies
McBride's career took off with the HBO comedy series Eastbound & Down. He co-created the show and starred as Kenny Powers, a former professional baseball player trying to make a comeback. The show was very popular and ran for four seasons.
